Our Model in Action

Care & Connect

When students arrive in the morning, they are greeted warmly by multiple teachers and staff members, creating a sense of connection from the moment they step onto campus. Our goal at Compositive Primary is for every child to feel known and loved, and this infuses every interaction throughout the day.

Recognize & Act

Peek in and you may find students busy at work in a writer’s or math workshop, engaged in a variety of activities. Some students may be telling a story from a drawing they created or dictating their ideas to a teacher. During math, they may be working with manipulatives or discovering patterns in numbers. All students are working to make meaning of their experiences, and all students have a voice and a choice as they determine what to explore on any given day.

Reflect & Learn

Every day at Compositive Primary is filled with joyful inquiry. The school year is divided into four inquiry arcs, in which students explore large themes. We work with them to ask big questions, dive deep in the exploration of a variety of topics, and figure out how to use their knowledge to make change.

Engage & Serve

Because we are part of such a vibrant community, our students will be actively engaged with that community. They may invite an adult to class to share about their job, or they may take a walk to observe different building styles or to interview someone at their workplace.
